This time is dedicated to exploration, playing and just taking time out of our busy schedules to create and relax. Students can bring their own projects and supplies to work on or Maureen will provide a lesson, project and supplies. A new demonstration each week is presented and can include, techniques, framing, mediums and more…. There is no consecutive commitment as there is with most classes so you can come as you like. Most students come weekly.

Mastering the Dirty Pour – The chemistry behind the magic.

Learn the proper techniques of a dirty pour and how to make it successful, frame it with paint, layout a multiple dirty pour and more. Pour without crazing and muddles. This is a hands on workshop so wear your paint clothes and be ready to get a bit messy.

Work will be wet.  Prepare to transport wet.

Swipe, Drip and Control

What is a swipe pour? How can this method be used with drips and other methods? Learn proper techniques and how to use tools, paint and mediums to achieve a successful pour full of dimension, cells and without crazing, muddles and more. This is a hands on workshop so wear your paint clothes and be ready to get a bit messy.

Intentional Pours: Planning your pour and more

This method is still very free moving but has a more planned and intentional results. Students will learn how to set up an intentional pour, proper paint and mediums to use, how to use tools to manipulate the pour and how to achieve a successful pour without crazing.  This is a hands on workshop so wear your paint clothes and be ready to get a bit messy.

Work will be wet.  Prepare to transport wet.

Skins and Applications

What is a skin and what is the proper way to apply a skin?  Why create a skin?

Learn how to create skins, their use and how to save and manipulate that pour that just did not really work out.  Learn how to create depth and dimension to your pours using skins. You will also learn the technique to create a skin wall hanging (demo only).

Work will be wet.  Prepare to transport wet.

Rubber gloves, apron, paint clothes.

Torch or heat gun

Instructor will supply set up, cups, stir sticks, paper towels, tools, Golden mediums and Golden paint which is included in cost of the class.
