Beginning Painting

Learn the foundations of painting. Students will learn the fundamental design principals, the paint process, techniques, surfaces, mediums and more. Students will take away from a greater knowledge of the painting process, technique development and overall good design habits and structure that will apply to all artistic endeavors.

All materials, paint and mediums provided and included in the class fee. Students will take home all work and samples created in this workshop.

Advanced Painting
All Levels

Fundamental design principals, the paint process, techniques, surfaces, mediums gels and more will be reinforced and enhanced in this class. Students will take away greater knowledge of the painting process, skill development, exploration and experimentation and overall good design habits that will apply to all artistic endeavors. Students will take their skill level to the next level.

All materials, paints, mediums and gels provided and included in the class fee. Students will take home all work and samples created in this workshop.

Gelli Plate Monotyping Techniques

All Levels

This is a great class to take if you own a Gelli Plate and simply aren’t getting the results you want or if you’re thinking of buying a Gelli Plate, but not sure what to do with it or how to proceed.  This workshop will cover what types of paints to use, care, papers, etc… The monotype printing process is unique. It allows you to create beautiful monotypes without a press, using materials anyone has in their studio. Find out how to create unique textures, patterns and more.

Bring your Gelli Plate, if you have one, a brayer and different porous papers to print on Some paint, mediums, paper etc… will be provided.

Students should bring a notebook to take notes and be prepared to take samples home that still may be damp.

The OPEN Acrylic Revolution
All Levels

Now is your chance to find out with hands on experience about the revolutionary new slow-drying Golden OPEN Acrylics. OPEN Acrylics act similar to oil paints, clean up with soap and water and have an extended working time, 4-15 times longer, for more control of blending and overall manipulation of the paint. They are very versatile and can used in combination with other Golden acrylics, mediums and gels allowing artists a wide range of exploration.
Students will have hands on experience working with OPEN Acrylics, mediums and gels and will learn how to prepare surfaces, blend, mix and more. OPENS are great for plein air painting and mono printing.  A simple mono print demo will be included on a jelly plate.

Indulge and Dive into the World of Acrylics
All Levels

This one day workshop is for artists of all levels seeking a highly charged look into the world of acrylics and what is new, changing and cutting edge.

This workshop is a fun, fast-paced and informative presentation that includes technical, experimental and hands on applications. Heavy body, fluid, OPEN and the new Hi Flow acrylics will be covered. Students will learn about a variety of acrylic Mediums: GELS, PASTES, AGGREGATES (GRITS) AND MORE to create surface texture, alter consistency and extend and economize your paints.  Sample boards will be created.

Artists of all levels will come away from this one day workshop with new information and fresh ideas for self creative expression.

Gels, Pastes, Mediums and More “Oh My”
All Levels

This workshop is designed to really dig into the world of MEDIUMS, GELS, PASTES, AGGREGATES (GRITS) AND MORE.  Spend the day learning all about the myriad of mediums available. You will make a sample board and several small paintings using different mediums. Properties, uses, drying times, opacity/transparency, absorbency, mixing and much more will be covered about these magnificent Golden mediums. Get ready to PLAY with these mediums.

The primary focus is abstract and his class is for the artists that has worked with acrylics but would like to expand their knowledge about different acrylic mediums to create texture, movement and more.
This class is dedicated to learning the techniques associated with different acrylic mediums. We will explore the many different ways mediums can be used, the different effects that can be achieved and an overall exploration of the world of acrylic mediums. i.e course molding paste, glass bead, crackle paste, fiber paste, clear tar gel and more.

Acrylics With A Twist
All Levels

The primary focus is abstract; however, combining abstract with realistic elements is a transformation that can happen in this class. The force behind this class is to develop a personal connection with paint. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve ever held a brush before or have had one in your hand since little on. This class will help you develop new skills and see things a bit differently.
This class is dedicated to developing your personal connection to painting with acrylics and to expand your understanding of how they work. We will explore the many different ways paint can be applied. While working in a charged, supportive environment, participants will immerse how memory and thought are communicated in painting. Color mixing and basic design elements will be presented through demonstration and visual aids. We will look at and learn different techniques as lifting, staining, alcohol resolve, layering, gel mediums etc.

Acrylic Mediums, Textures And More

Students should have some knowledge about acrylic paints and how they perform prior to taking this course. This class is dedicated to learning the techniques associated with different acrylic mediums. We will explore the many different ways mediums can be used, the different effects that can be achieved and an overall exploration of the world of acrylic mediums. i.e course molding paste, glass bead, crackle paste, fiber paste and more. Understanding Abstract
All Levels

This workshop covers theory, composition, color application, acrylic painting techniques and much more. Work from a nature composition, your imagination or from a composition of geometric shapes.  Students will explore the acrylic medium and the purpose and theory behind abstract. Students will learn how to look differently at the world around them and explore more detail in their environment. Abstract can be very geometric or fluid and students will explore both these avenues. Students will also learn various acrylic techniques to achieve texture, depth and layering.

Drips, Pours, Peels And Splashes

This interactive highly charged class will show you how to create great affects by using pouring mediums, dripping, splashing, and creating and applying acrylic peels. Students will learn how to apply and integrate these techniques and explore the purpose and theory about the abstract expressionists movement. Areas of focus will be on mediums, how to use them, different acrylic paints, how to mix the paint with the medium, the do’s and dont’s and how to create peels and more. This class is a technique based course and will appeal to those wanting to learn more about mediums, the collage or mixed media artists, abstract artists or anyone wanting a clearer understanding of acrylics.
